According to the Provincial Offenses Act, Ontario has more than $1.4 billion in unpaid traffic related fees, which is a lot of money. Meaning, many Canadian car owners are driving their cars with a suspended or expired license, which is an offence.

Toronto is looking to collect these fines and is going after unpaid tickets, and here is an example of a truck driver who never paid his ticket and is paying the consequences:

Truck driver Garry Prentice had to pay more than $300 to have his license reinstated because of a 31-year-old ticket that he had forgotten about

The City of Toronto has changed the way it tracks down unpaid traffic tickets. They will now use four different methods to collect outstanding Provincial Offence Act fines:

  1. Adding them to property taxes
  2. License suspension
  3. Plate denial
  4. Applying civil enforcement measures through the Superior Court of Justice.

Toronto Traffic Ticket Lawyers can help you reduce the amount of your ticket so you no longer need to procrastinate to make that initial payment. Our goal is to ensure you do not wind up like that truck driver and deal with the city of Toronto before they come running after you.
